I read about your work for stillborn babies.  I lost my little girl, Jackie, in September of 1953.  She was born half- alive and half-dead but despite doctors working on her for 45 minutes, she did not make it.  I was unable to obtain any proof she existed.  All these years I grieved for her. I am ashamed to say I did nothing to change things. I was only 19 years old and had a mother who would discourage me in any endeavor. I did not learn to fight for anything until I decided to adopt five Korean war orphans.  They all grew up to be wonderful people and I’m so proud of my “babies”- but there is always one baby who I always love so much and miss.

In those days they take “it away” and I (was) left with empty arms…when I was sent home…we got permission from the board of health to move Jackie to our family plot and I was able to open her casket and [for the first time] see our baby.  We were not allowed to touch her so we stood there and burned the memory of her beautiful face to be able to recall it to this day.  I am now 72 years old and I remember what she looked like.
