DEATH OF KUBLER-ROSS MOURNED BY MANY
The MISS Foundation's Board of Directors is saddened to report the death of
Honorary Member, Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. For MISS Founder, Joanne Cacciatore,
the loss is more than a professional one. "Elisabeth will always be my greatest
mentor, my friend. She is the most beautiful human being I've ever known...and
she single-handedly initiated the current transformation we are experiencing
around Western culture's responses to death, dying, and the bereaved."
Born in 1926 to a middle class Swiss family, Kubler-Ross committed her life to
helping dying patients and to the improvement of holistic care to families. In
1969, she published the seminal book, On Death and Dying, still used in medical
schools and universities around the world.
More recently, Kubler-Ross relocated to Arizona where she lived out her final
days. "I will miss everything about her," says Cacciatore. "I will miss her
laugh, her spunk, her instruction, her E.T. finger...absolutely everything...
there will never be another Elisabeth."
